How it's calculated
We compare the price with your available savings and a recommended emergency buffer (three months of your expenses by default). If the buffer stays intact after the purchase, you can afford it; if it drops below, it's a tight purchase; and if you can't cover it today, we estimate how many months of saving your monthly surplus it would take to pay for it without touching the buffer.
It's a rough estimate, not financial advice. It doesn't account for surprises, debts or the return on your savings; adjust it to your situation.

What is the emergency buffer?
Savings worth keeping for surprises, usually between three and six months of your expenses. The simulator uses three months by default and avoids recommending a purchase that would leave it below that.
How are the months to afford it calculated?
We take what you're short to cover the price plus the buffer and divide it by your monthly savings (income minus expenses). If you don't save each month, there's no timeframe: you'd first need to cut expenses or raise income.
